An Intensive Training for long term practitioners and teacher trainees. Everybody with a daily practice of minimum 2 years is welcome to join.

This training is built to teach Ashtanga Yoga from the outset in the traditional way, Mysore Style, where every student learns from the beginning individually. In this method we can adjust the practice according to each individual’s needs and abilities. We learn how to give individual guidance in case of injuries or any other parameter a student is coming with. To teach this way enables everybody, no matter what they bring to the mat, to learn this beautiful practice in a safe way.

We will explore in detail each Asana of the Primary Series. The performance of the asana and the transits between will be taught in depth and detail. We will learn how to teach Ashtanga Yoga to students with different levels of experience. We will also learn how to give variations to each individual’s needs, and how to give safe adjustment according to the individual level and state of practice.

We will explore the physical plane of the practice in relation to anatomical and physiological relation. Further this training will provide a deep exploration of the subtle bodies and the energetic alignment in the practice. We will learn how to use our hands on the students’ body, to realize energetic blockages and to help to release them. The steady flow of Prana is what we are looking for in a yogic practice. We will explore in practice and theory the techniques of Ashtanga Yoga, the breathing, the bandhas and the drishtis. We will learn how to use our voice in an economical way to correct the student verbally, without interrupting the flow of the practice.

There will be a 20 min pranayama session, and 30 min of sitting in silence, before we start with the Mysore Practice in the morning every day.

The training is built to teach Ashtanga Yoga from the outset in the traditional way, Mysore Style, where every student learns from the beginning individually. The student has to remember the sequence from the outset. This will give the parameter how fast the student will learn the sequence. This method guarantees that a new student is not overdoing the practice, which can easily happen in a led class setting.

Our whole system, muscles, tissues, bones, mind and feelings has to get used to the intensity of the practice. It is according to the students` abilities to practice only as far as they can remember. The practice has to be built up slowly and steady.

The training includes 80 Units (a 45 min) with the main topics:

  • Refine and intensify your own practice
  • The techniques of the Ashtanga Yoga practice
  • To teach in a Mysore style setting
  • Learning to give safe and helpful adjustments
  • Hands on training
  • Functional Anatomy
  • The energetic bodies (koshas)
  • Basic Pranayama
  • Zazen
  • Yoga Philosophy and discussions

Andrea will offer her experience of 15 years teaching all levels of students in a daily Mysore class setting. She has been doing a yearly teacher training since 2007, and this training will offer the essence of her teaching in a compact form.

The training will be limited to 8 trainees only!

During the training, all the trainees will have the opportunity to be with Andrea in the Mysore class to watch and assist.

Teaching Yoga is more than to teach a physical practice, we will work in this training on all the 8 limbs. The practice of Yoga and more so the teaching of it enables the individual to develop a more refined awareness and a development on all levels. We will examine our minds and our believe systems and how this is influencing our teaching. We will look at different principles based on western believes, where we come from, and based in the east where the Yoga practice is originated. We will work with the Yoga Sutras, as well as modern western approaches to body and mind.

Costs (incl. 19% VAT) for the 10 days intensive training: 1250€
At the end of the training you will receive a letter of attending 80 Units (each 45 min.) Teacher Training in traditional Ashtanga Yoga.
